Weprovide security services for a variety of large and small business clientswhere health, safety and security is our #1 priority. This is a publicenvironment with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors,customers, etc.). This Armed SecurityOfficer position provides security services required to preserve and protectlife, the environment and property.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Deteracts of violence, respond to emergencies, and help ensure the safety ofbuilding occupants and visitors.
Must have excellent customer service and communication skills and be able to work with diverse people, including those whose first language is something other than English, in a polite, professional, and non-threatening manner, unless the situation warrants otherwise.
Personally monitors either visually or electronically a variety of assigned buildings, areas, or grounds and perform regular foot patrols
Patrols a large area of property by foot.
Permits only properly authorized individuals to enter the property.
Assists persons requesting directional information regarding the building and services.
Examines doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
Respond to and record unusual or suspicious occurrences/activity, disputes, property damage, etc.
Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.
Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property.
Notify supervisor if safetyand sanitation standards are not being met.
Otherduties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may beassigned.
Thisposition has no supervisory responsibilities.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
At least ten (10) years of Law Enforcement experience in the last twenty (20) years.
A valid State of Alaska Armed Security Guard license upon hire.
Must be able to obtain a Concealed Carry Weapon permit from the State of Alaska.
A valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients.
Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.

Weather:Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed toarctic conditions.
Noiselevel: Moderate to Loud
Descriptionof environment: This is a public environment.
Mustconstantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull use hands and arms, stoop,kneel and crouch.
Physicalrequirements: Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
