This position would be a key member of the Chugach Government Solutions, LLC (CGS) team and responsible for perpetuating these core behaviors throughout the organization, including within our departments, subsidiary companies, and amongst our customers. Key will be maintaining a trusted relationship with the CGS President and enhancing the cohesiveness of the executive leadership team.

Summary/General Description of Job:

Reporting directly to the President, the Assistant to the President (ATTP) provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. The ATTP serves as the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters pertaining to the Office of the President. The ATTP also serves as a liaison to the senior management teams; organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversees special projects. The ATTP must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven and community oriented. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The ATTP will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Provides a bridge for smooth communication between the President's office and internal departments; demonstrating leadership to maintain credibility, trust and support with senior management staff.

  • Works closely and effectively with the President to keep him/her well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Acts as a "barometer," having a sense for the issues taking place in the environment and keeping the President updated.

  • Provides leadership to build relationships crucial to the success of the organization, and manages a variety of special projects for the President, some of which may have organizational-wide impact.

  • Successfully completes critical aspects of deliverables with a hands-on approach, including drafting acknowledgement letters, personal correspondence, and other tasks that facilitate the President's ability to effectively lead the company.

  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.

  • Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on incoming issues and concerns addressed to the President, including those of a sensitive or confidential nature. Determines appropriate course of action, referral, or response. Executes as needed.

  • Participates as an adjunct member of the Executive Team including assisting in scheduling meetings and attending all meetings.

  • Assists in coordinating the agenda of senior management team meetings and off-sites, and all- staff meetings.

  • Facilitates cross-divisional coordination of travel and outreach plans.

  • Edits and completes first drafts for written communications to external stake holders.

  • Works with the Communications team in coordinating the President's outreach activities.

  • Follows up on contacts made by the President and supports the cultivation of ongoing relationships.

  • Edits all, and creates acknowledgement letters from the President.

  • Performs related work as assigned.

Accountable for:

  • Knowledge of DoD or other federal government contracting, FAR, and related terms and regulations.

  • Knowledge of best practices in government contracting.

  • Skill in promoting and supporting a safe work environment through support of regulatory compliance and in-house programs.

  • Ability to coordinate actions and correspondence between CGS staff effectively

  • Skill in the use of common office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and computers.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

  • Ability to create and maintain a positive team atmosphere with effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally with a variety of people and personalities.

  • Ability to serve as a strategic partner, with sound technical and analytical skills, good judgment and a strong operational and strategic focus.

Mandatory

  • Bachelor’s degree or actively enrolled in a Bachelor’s program and Five (5) years’ experience working for Chugach.

  • Skill in the use of MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint at a minimum of an intermediate level.

  • Desire to grow into Senior Level leaderships positions in Chugach.

  • Ability to travel and periodic extended work hours.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance if needed.

  • Current U.S. issued passport, or the ability to obtain one.

  • Valid state drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Must be a Chugach shareholder and/ or descendant or a shareholder.

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience of the SBA 8(a) program, history and compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Labor regulations and terms (e.g., Davis-Bacon Act, McNamara-O’Hara Service Contract Act, and Fair Labor Standards Act).

  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment, particularly with an Alaskan Native Corporation.
