College Intern - Risk Management/HSET
Under the direction of the direction of the VP Risk Management/HSET, the Risk Management/HSET Intern is responsible for assisting the Risk Management/HSET group and shall have the capability to learn and complete administrative support work on the corporation’s insurance, risk management, safety, and claims tasks as assigned. This position requires a familiarity, prior experience and functional working knowledge of commonly used office software, MS Outlook, Skype, MS Word, MS Excel, also Internet Explorer, PowerPoint and SharePoint. The position requires time management and organization skills needed for the team to respond to operational service requests. The intern must have the capabilities to learn intermediate and above software techniques, design and work with formatted documents and calculating spreadsheets.
The Risk Management/HSET Intern works with many internal resources including, but not limited to, human resources, finance, legal, bid & proposal; and with external resources, insurers, consultants, third party administrators, and brokers as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in insurance policy administration, including maintenance of electronic policy files on SharePoint.
Assists in processing invoices and billings related to the insurance program, as well as allocations of expenses to divisions.
Assists in maintenance of the corporation’s insurance underwriting/exposure data, property schedules, auto schedules, and other schedules and applications required by insurers. Works with the finance department and operations to improve accuracy of data.
Assist with administrative duties on the corporation’s Authorized Driver/Motor Vehicle Safety Program, including maintaining the list of Authorized Drivers.
Manages the corporation’s Certificates of Insurance, Auto ID Card, and Employer’s Notices of Insurance e-files. Processes Certificate of Insurance and Auto ID Card requests in a timely manner.
Other duties as assigned.
High School graduate or equivalent. Some college preferred.
Prior Experience and functional working knowledge of computer software programs, including PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office.
High level of productivity and organization in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to interact positively with peers, co-workers and internal clients in a professional manner.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Employee must work well in a team environment, be reliable, creative, trustworthy. Strong ethical and compliance requirement.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Work is performed in an office environment.
No travel is required for the position, other than some local travel to professional events and meetings.
The Risk Management/HSET Intern will not be an Authorized Driver for the Corporation.
