Description/Job Summary

SUMMARY:

Responsible for applying design and electrical engineering skills to a variety of diverse and challenging projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. The successful candidate shall have experience in the electrical engineering design consulting business, with demonstrated commercial or industrial design capabilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs engineering assignments with clear and specified objectives and involving conventional types of plans andspecifications.

  • Review work for the application of sound professionaljudgment.

  • Performs design calculations and prepares equipment or materialspecifications.

  • Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to constructiondocuments.

  • Prepare graphical representations ofdesigns

  • Assignmentsrequiretheinvestigationofalimitednumberofvariablesandsupervisoryassistanceis provided on unusualproblems.

  • May supervise or coordinate the work of other designers and other technical supportpersonnel.

  • Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heatingplants,

  • Other duties may beassigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in electrical engineering, including experience with the A/E design process and specifications leading to construction documents.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the design of medium voltage distribution systems, low and medium voltage variable speed drives, arc flash analysis, and short circuit and protection coordination.

  • Demonstrated success as project manager/designer of record on projects valued up to $2M

  • Proficient in the use of EasyPower.

  • High School diploma or GED required; AA or continuing education preferred`

  • Proficient with MS Office software; including MS Word, Excel and Building Information management (BIM) Revit software and computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software such as AutoCad and Microstation.

  • Experience preparing graphical representations of designs

  • Experience in lighting, power, signal, communication, controls and fire detection systems

  • Experience in performing design calculations and preparing equipment or material specifications

  • Experience with all phases of project production

  • Experience in budgeting, scheduling, planning, design specification and working drawings

  • Working knowledge of applicable electrical and designcodes

  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills to peers, managers, and clients

  • Experience in commercial, state and federal facility design desirable

  • Ability to perform design calculations using commercially available software.

  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a fast track, team environment

  • Ability to prepare letters, reports, and specifications using word processing software such as Microsoft Word.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and proceduremanuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
