Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Planner, Emergency Management for immediate employment for the Anchorage, AK office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Preparation of environmental, planning, and engineering studies.

  • Apply understanding of planning to evaluate and mitigate impacts of development, and to learn new disciplines and skills.

  • This position will be involved in community, hazard mitigation, environmental, land use, and transportation planning, NEPA analysis and documentation.

  • Supports and leads Emergency Management planning efforts based on customer safety and critical infrastructure, and key assets under all hazards.

  • Leads preparedness planning, continuity of operations planning (COOP), continuity of business (COB) planning projects.

  • This position will interact as part of the project team and will have direct communications (written and in person) with clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Planning, or related field

  • 5+ years' experience successfully preparing NEPA, emergency, or hazard mitigation planning document

  • Previous experience related to emergency management, safety, hazard assessments, technical writing, situational analysis, and data management for mitigation planning knowledge of specific government agency requirements, including the National Response Framework, Incident Command System, and National Incident Management System.

  • Understanding of applicable environmental regulatory framework for Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, including applicable state and federal laws

  • Strong research and analytical abilities

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the editing, oversight or preparation of technical reports

  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working with federal and state government agencies

  • Familiarity with rural Alaska communities

  • Experience interacting with state and local regulatory agency representatives in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest
