Position Summary:This is a Student Assistant C Labor Pool at UAA.

Duties:

100Primary focus will be to interview scholarship donors and write approximately 500 word stories about their desire to establish a scholarship. Must assess the current donor profiles to determine necessary next steps, which will be from editing existing profiles to contacting donors to interview, research online for information, obtain photographs or company logos for profiles.Essential

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, etc.) Social Media and proficient with internet searches.

Must have knowledge and skills to interview donors in a meaningful and professional manner.

Must be thoughtful in eliciting the most effectual story material. Must have the ability to listen carefully and speak clearly to be understood.

Must have a strong grasp of grammar, spelling and other writing mechanics.

Must be a keen editor and listen carefully to glean information and follow directions.

Must have ability to learn relational database software.

Required Experience:

Must have demonstrated writing ability and experience interviewing people.

Must be proficient with Associated Press style.

Journalism and writing majors preferred.

Typical Education or Training:

To be eligible for student employment at UAA, a student must:

a. be enrolled in the university system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or

b. for employment between semesters, have successfully completed six or more UA credit hours in the preceding semester and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester; and

c. not work hours which interfere with class attendance; and

d. have at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average.

NOTICE: Students must maintain enrollment and regular attendance for a minimum of at least 6 undergraduate credit hours or 6 graduate credit hours to be exempt from FICA (Social Security and Medicare) tax. A credit hour load below the minimum required for full-time student status will require the withholding of FICA tax (non-resident aliens on an appropriate visa who meet student employment criteria will continue to be exempt from FICA regardless of credit hour load). While in a student position, a student cannot hold any other type of simultaneous employment with the university.
